On the Job: Measuring Efficiency during a Residential Efficiency Scorecard Assessment!

Today, I had the privilege of helping another household unlock the secrets to a more energy-efficient home! As an assessor, I meticulously measure various aspects of the house, such as:

Insulation levels: Ensuring the home is well-insulated for optimal temperature regulation.

Heating and cooling systems: Evaluating the efficiency of HVAC units and their energy consumption.

Appliances and lighting: Checking for energy-efficient models and proper usage.

Every assessment is an opportunity to provide valuable insights and recommendations to homeowners. I love seeing their reactions when they realize the potential savings and comfort improvements they can achieve!

๐ŸŒŸ Enhancing Home Comfort with a Simple Addition! ๐ŸŒŸ

We recently worked with a client who made a fantastic improvement to their home by adding a ceiling fan to a room with a split system. This simple yet effective recommendation has helped distribute the heat more evenly, moving it away from the ceiling and making the entire space much more comfortable.

By combining the energy efficiency of their split system with the airflow provided by the ceiling fan, they've created a cozy and inviting environment while also optimising their energy usage. ๐ŸŒฌ๏ธ๐Ÿ’ก

It's amazing how small adjustments can lead to big benefits in home comfort and energy efficiency. On the Job: Assessing Ceiling Insulation during a Residential Efficiency Scorecard Assessment! ๐Ÿก๐Ÿ”

Today, I rolled up my sleeves and got into the roof space to evaluate the ceiling insulation as part of a Residential Efficiency Scorecard assessment! Hereโ€™s why this is so important:

Insulation levels: Checking for adequate and properly installed insulation to ensure the home stays warm in winter and cool in summer.

Gaps and damage: Identifying any gaps, compression, or damage in the insulation that could compromise its effectiveness.

Recommendations: Providing homeowners with actionable advice on how to improve their insulation and boost overall energy efficiency.

Every assessment is a chance to help homeowners enhance their comfort and reduce energy bills by optimizing their insulation. I love seeing the positive impact these improvements can make on their living environment!

What Our Clients Say

Our Clients Speak: Real Experiences, Real Results with Enfort

Jarrod was extremely helpful, realistic and easy to chat with. He was a great starting place on my 'make my home more energy efficient' journey. He has insulated underneath my wooden floor which no one else wanted to do/or quoted ridiculous amounts for. Highly recommend.

On the Job: Ceiling Insulation Repair

Here is an example our Ceiling Insulation Repair work.

We avoid unnecessarily disposing of existing old insulation if it is in good condition.

Instead, in this case, we re-shuffled the thin layer to make an initial layer up to the ceiling joist level. This gives a good primary coverage to work from. We then infill the gaps we have created and then add an additional layer over the top of the re-shuffled layers.

This results in less landfill and less new materials being used.

Win-Win!!

Insulating Access Hatches for Better Efficiency during a Residential Efficiency Scorecard Assessment! ๐Ÿก๐Ÿ”

Today, during a Home Energy Assessment, I discovered a number of access hatches in the ceiling that were major culprits for heat loss and gain. Using a thermal camera, we identified these spots where heat was sneaking in and out:

Access hatches: These often-overlooked areas were found to be poorly insulated, leading to significant energy loss.

Thermal imaging: The thermal camera clearly highlighted the hot and cold spots, making it easy to pinpoint the problem areas.

Insulation: We recommended and implemented effective insulation solutions to insulate these hatches, significantly improving the homeโ€™s overall energy efficiency.

Every assessment is a chance to uncover hidden issues and provide practical solutions that make a real difference in home comfort and energy savings. Itโ€™s incredibly rewarding to help homeowners achieve a more efficient and sustainable living space!

On the Job: Transitioning to Efficient Hot Water Systems during a Residential Efficiency Scorecard Assessment! ๐Ÿšฟ๐Ÿ”

Today, I had the opportunity to assist a household in making the switch to more efficient and eco-friendly hot water systems! As an assessor, I pay close attention to key aspects of hot water efficiency, such as:

Hot water system type: Evaluating the current system and recommending efficient alternatives like heat pump or solar hot water systems.

Water usage: Checking for leaks and ensuring proper insulation of pipes to prevent heat loss.

Getting off gas: Providing options to transition away from gas-based systems to greener, more sustainable solutions.

Every assessment is a chance to help homeowners discover the benefits of reducing their reliance on gas and embracing energy-efficient hot water systems. The potential savings and environmental impact make this transition incredibly rewarding!

Blanking Off Old Ducted Floor Vents

As a part of Getting-Off-Gas our client needed a solution to make their gas ducted system floor vents less of a visual and trip hazard. To seal them from draughts and insulate. These vents were no longer connected to the ducts. We retained the floor registers but replaced the vent covers with new, flatter units.

  • Removed old beige non-flat fluted floor vents.

  • Sourced flat replacements and removed the internal plastic vanes.

  • Used rubber backed carpet as the internal seal cut to size, inserted and sealed. - see image

  • Sealed the duct register edges to the floor, can use silver tape but used low expansion foam. There are generally unwanted gaps between the edge of the floor register and to flooring material.

  • Inserted polyester insulation into the duct register and sealed with silver tape.

  • Enfort removed all of the old ducts were to allow access for Enfort to install polyester underfloor insulation.

  • Insulated the entire underfloor and over the duct registers. Ensuring double insulation.
