In planning for their retirement the owner of the Purple House wanted to find ways to make their outlook more financially secure and predictable. They wanted to find ways to avoid Bill-Shock, improve the comfort of their home, and in-turn reduce their footprint on the planet.

Appliances: Heating & Cooling: Removed Gas Ducted Heating System. We retained the existing small Reverse Cycle Split System traditionally only used for cooling as the primary heating/cooling system. Enfort specified and then managed the installation of a DC ceiling fan in this zone to help destratify and distribute the heat throughout the house. Hot Water: Enfort specified and then managed the replacement of the Gas Storage Hot Water System with a Heat Pump Hot Water System.
Building Fabric: Ceiling Insulation: Enfort managed the addition of R5.0 of Loose Fill insulation on top of the existing R0.5 of Rockwool. Wall Insulation: Enfort managed the installation of R2.3 Blown into the weatherboard walls. Mainly from the exterior. The property was coming close to requiring re-paining so this worked well. Use of our thermal camera detected some missing areas that the contractor remediated on-site. Floor Insulation: Enfort installed R2.0 Polyester Batts to the underfloor. Window Coverings: Enfort supplied and installed Double-Cell Honeycomb Blinds which were added to any large areas of glazing without any coverings. This included a horizontal sliding honeycomb blind for the back glazed door. Draughts: A Detailed Draught Detection Audit and draught proofing was performed by Enfort. This was applied to:
Sealed heater vent outlets and return air grille.
Skirting boards and architraves.
Chimney brickwork and chimney throat.
Doors and windows.
